Jarred Diorio Named NEFC Special Teams Player of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Bridgewater State University sophomore placekicker and punter Jarred Diorio has been selected as the New England Football Conference (NEFC) Special Teams Player of the Week.

Diorio booted a season-long 40-yard field goal and connected on 6 of 7 point after tries in Bridgewater’s 44-21 win at Coast Guard this past weekend.  In the Bears’ only punt attempt of the day, he boomed a 55-yarder to pin the Coast Guard offense inside the 20.

Through six games this season, Diorio has converted 12 of 14 extra point attempts and has made four of six field goal attempts. The Kingston, New Hampshire product is third on the team in scoring with 24 points and ranks fourth in the NEFC in made field goals.  Diorio is also averaging 56.1 yards on 16 kickoffs with two touchbacks.

In two seasons at Bridgewater State, Diorio is 31 for 35 (.886) in PATs and has produced 49 points in the kicking game.

The Bridgewater State football team is currently 5-1 on the season and tied for third place in the NEFC Bogan Division standings with a 2-1 divisional record.  The Bears host Worcester State University for “Homecoming” on Saturday afternoon at one.
