14 Bears Named to NEFC All-Academic Team

2011 NEFC All-Academic Team

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. - Fourteen members of the 2011 Bridgewater State University football team earned New England Football Conference (NEFC) All-Academic honors.  The all-academic team was released today by NEFC Director of Media Relations, Roger Crosley.

To qualify for the team, a player must have completed three semesters at the same institution and maintain a 3.0 or higher cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale.

Defensive linemen Jacob Curren (North Attleboro, Mass.), Matt MacFadzen (Agawam, Mass.) and Michael Nazzaro (Boxford, Mass.), running back Justin Fuller (Berkley, Mass.), tight end Mike Glassman (Norton, Mass.) and defensive back Kevin Laudano (Wallingford, Conn.) are the six seniors from the 2011 squad who achieved all-academic status.

Members of the junior class on the all-academic team are running backs Ben Desmarais (South Hadley, Mass.) and Nick Pistacchio (Johnston, R.I.), defensive back Ryan Connolly (Norfolk, Mass.), offensive tackle Mike D'Attilio (North Attleboro, Mass.) and defensive tackle Paul Melicharek (Glen Rock, N.J.).

Sophomores include running back Cody Brewer (Edgartown, Mass.), defensive back Matt Brouillard (Plymouth, Mass.) and defensive end Ryan Fleming (Norton, Mass.).

The Bridgewater State football team posted a record of 7-3 during the 2011 season including a 5-2 mark in Bogan Division play.  The Bears played in the ECAC Northeast Bowl in their season finale at home against Alfred University.
