Justin Fuller Named NEFC Offensive Player of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Bridgewater State University senior running back Justin Fuller has been selected as the New England Football Conference (NEFC) Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in the Bears’ 34-25 season-opening win on the road over Mount Ida College.

Fuller rushed for 117 yards on 24 carries and scored four touchdowns in the non-conference win over the Mustangs.  He scored on runs of two, 13, and 11 yards and also hauled in an eight-yard TD reception.

Last year Fuller was nothing short of sensational in his first season with the Bears after transferring from Springfield College. He accounted for 19 of BSC's 34 rushing touchdowns and amassed 1,375 yards on the ground.  Those impressive numbers are second only to Brenden Kavey's school record-setting totals of 1,400 yards and 20 touchdowns set in 2005.

Fuller ranked sixth in all of Division III in rushing with 137.5 yards per game, and tied for fifth in scoring with 11.4 points per game.  He tied the BSC single-game record for touchdowns with five in the Bears' 40-14 rout of divisional champion Maine Maritime Academy.  He also rushed for a career-high 235 yards in that game.

Prior to the start of the 2010 season, Fuller was named to three preseason All-American football teams.  The Berkley, Massachusetts native was a first team offense selection on the Consensus Draft Services (CDS) Division III Preseason All-American Team, a second team offense selection on the D-III Football Senior Classic Preseason All-American North Team and an honorable mention honoree on the D3ProDay.com Preseason All-American Team.
