2008 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District One College Division Football Team

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the second straight season, Bridgewater State College senior offensive tackle Justin Lima has been selected to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District One College Division Football Team in voting conducted by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).  Lima, who was a second team honoree a year ago, was named as a first team selection this season.

Lima, who majors in Criminal Justice, was one of nine representatives from the New England Football Conference (NEFC) voted to the regional team, and the only representative from the six Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference (MASCAC) football teams. He presently carries an impressive 3.73 grade point average as he has been a Dean's List student in each of her first six semesters at Bridgewater State.

A native of Mashpee, Massachusetts, Lima has started all nine games from his right tackle position for the Bears this season and each of the last 28 games dating back to his sophomore season of 2006.

As a team, Bridgewater is currently ranked third in the NEFC in rushing (296.7 ypg), fourth in scoring offense, (34.9 ppg), and fifth in total offense (417.3 ypg).  BSC also ranks second in the conference in average time of possession (31:29) and fourth down conversion percentage (67%), and fifth in third down conversion percentage (44%).

Among the national leaders, the Bears rank fourth in all of Division III in rushing offense, 17th in fourth down conversions, 27th in scoring offense, and 28th in total offense.

The Bears head into the final game of the 2008 season with a record of 6-3 overall and 5-1 in the NEFC Bogan Division.  Bridgewater hosts Mass. Maritime Academy on Saturday at noon in the 30th Annual Cranberry Bowl.  BSC needs a win over the Buccaneers coupled with a Maine Maritime loss against Fitchburg State to advance to the NEFC Championship Game.

Founded by CoSIDA in 1952, the Academic All-America and All-District Teams program recognizes and awards our nation's premier college scholar-athletes for their ability to achieve excellence on the playing field and in the classroom.
