BRIDGEWATER, Mass. - Bridgewater State College senior running back Bruce Burley has been selected as the New England Football Conference (NEFC) Co-Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in the Bears' 42-35 come-from-behind win over Framingham State on Saturday. He shares the honor with Plymouth State senior running back Jeff Mack.

A native of Mansfield, Massachusetts, Burley rushed for 228 yards and four touchdowns on 27 carries in the key NEFC Bogan Division victory over the Rams.  He rushed for scores of 36, 10, 51 and 9 yards, with the nine-yard touchdown run giving BSC the 42-35 lead with just 42 second left in the game. The Bears had trailed 28-7 early in the second quarter and 28-14 at halftime.

Burley also moved into fifth place on the Bears all-time rushing list and eighth place on the Bears' all-time scoring list.  He became just the seventh player in BSC football history to crack the 2,000-yard barrier as he now has 2,181 yards rushing and 176 total points in just three seasons with the Bears

Through six games this season, Burley has rushed for 833 yards on 103 attempts as he is averaging an impressive 8.1 yards per carry. He has 13 touchdowns to his credit with 12 of those coming on the ground.
