BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State College senior running back Bruce Burley was selected to the D3football.com Team of the Week for his performance in the Bears' 38-14 win over Fitchburg State last Saturday.

A native of Mansfield, Massachusetts, Burley rushed for a season-high 202 yards and two touchdowns on just 11 carries.  He scored on runs of 48 and 41 yards and was also on the receiving end of a 75-yard touchdown pass.

With his 202 rushing yards and three scores, Burley moved up the ladder among the Bears' all-time rushing and scoring leaders.  He moved past Al Colarusso (1,891 yds; 1976-79) into seventh place on the BSC career rushing list as he now has 1,953 yards in his three seasons at Bridgewater. Burley also moved into tenth place on the career scoring list with 152 points.

This season, Burley leads the team in both rushing and scoring as he has rushed for 605 yards on 76 carries and has found the end zone nine times on the year. Burley is averaging 121.0 yards per game on the ground and 8.0 yards per carry.

Among the New England Football Conference (NEFC) leaders, Burley ranks eighth in rushing, ninth in all purpose yards (144.8 ypg) and is tied for fourth in scoring (54 pts).
