DANVERS, Mass. – The Bridgewater State University equestrian team wrapped up regular season competition on Saturday at an Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) Zone One, Region Four event hosted by Endicott College at Autumn Sky Farm in Danvers.

Freshman Sophia Barnard (Halifax, Mass.) started the day off in open fences with a beautiful second place finish on Alfie, a 17.3 hand warmblood gelding. Barnard then rode Athena, a 14.3 hand appaloosa cross, in open flat placing third.

Freshman Ashley Crosby (Littleton, Mass.) placed fifth place in intermediate fences on Nemo, a 15.2 hand chestnut gelding. She then rode Ivan, a 16 hand gelding, through a competitive open flat class. 

Sophomore Madison Elliott (Centerville, Mass.) made her open flat debut as she placed fifth on Doug, a 15.2 hand grey thoroughbred cross.

Junior Emily Adams (Plympton, Mass.) placed sixth in her limit fences debut on Nysa, a 14 hand pinto mare.

Senior Sydney Hawes (Pembroke, Mass.) rode to a second place ribbon on Montana in limit fences. Hawes then rode Goodie to a fourth place finish in limit flat. This was Hawes final show with the team as she will be graduating in May. She has competed all four years on the BSU equestrian squad.

Junior Emily Wolfe (East Bridgewater, Mass.) made her limit flat debut on Montana and posted a fifth place finish.

Freshman Jenna Root (Rutland, Mass.) rode to an impressive first place showing in novice flat on Octavius, a 16 hand warmblood gelding.

Freshman Ashley Drake (Suffield, Conn.) placed third on Luna, a 15 hand bay Morgan mare, with a terrific ride in novice flat.

Junior Abigail Adams (Webster, Mass.) rode Keegan to a second place ribbon in introductory as she qualified for regionals.

The BSU equestrian team will compete at the IHSA Zone One, Region Four Championships on Saturday, March 28th at Holly Hill Show Stables in Hanover. Seniors Maria Marchione (Hull, Mass.) and Jeanna Meloni (Falmouth, Mass.) along with Madison Elliott, Emily Wolfe, Emily Adams and Abigail Adams will all be competing in their respective divisions.
