BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University graduate righthander Matthew Seavey has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Baseball Pitcher of the Week.

Seavey tossed three-hit ball over five innings to earn the win in a 9-2 victory over Penn State-Berks last week at The Ripken Experience in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The North Attlenboro, Massachusetts product allowed just one run with four walks and four strikeouts in the win over the Nittany Lions.

In 24 career appearances (23 starts) over three seasons with the Bears, Seavey has produced 12 wins and one shutout with 127 strikeouts and a 2.47 ERA over 138 2/3 innings.

Last season, Seavey was named to the All-MASCAC Team for the second straight season. He was also selected to the D3baseball.com All-Region Two Third Team in 2022.

The MASCAC Pitcher of the Week honor marks the third of Seavey's career.

The BSU baseball team is currently 3-4 on the young season. The Bears entertain Gordon College in a non-conference twinbill on Saturday at noon from Alumni Park.
