Scott Emerson Named MASCAC Baseball Player of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University junior second baseman Scott Emerson has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Baseball Player of the Week.

A native of Peabody, Massachusetts, Emerson batted .556 (5-9) with a double, two walks, two HBP, three stolen bases, five runs and two RBI in two games for the Bears last week. He also posted a .692 one base percentage.

Emerson went 4-for-6 with a double, a walk, a hit by pitch, two stolen bases, five runs and an RBI in a 22-4 win over Eastern Nazarene, and was 1-for-3 at the plate with a walk, a hit by pitch, a stolen base and an RBI in a 15-5 setback to #6 Salve Regina.

Through 11 games this season, Emerson is batting .289 (11-38) with a double, a triple, seven walks, eight stolen bases, 14 runs and seven RBI. He has also been hit by a pitch seven times and checks in with a .472 on base percentage.

Emerson currently leads the MASCAC in getting hit by pitch and is tied for third in both runs and stolen bases. He is also tied for seventh among the conference leaders in sacrifice bunts (2), tied for eighth in on base percentage and tied for ninth in walks.

In 100 games over his first three seasons with the Bears, Emerson has a career batting average of .341 (126-369) with 15 doubles, four triples, 44 walks, 69 stolen bases, 116 runs and 65 RBI. He has been hit by a pitch 23 times and has a career on base percentage of .437.

Emerson is presently fourth all-time in program history with his 69 stolen bases.

The MASCAC Player of the Week accolade marks the fourth of Emerson's career.
