Feeney Headlines Bears' All-MASCAC Baseball Selections

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Senior shortstop Ryan Feeney (East Bridgewater, Mass.) garnered Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Player of the Year honors to highlight Bridgewater State's two representatives on the 2017 All-MASCAC Baseball Team.

Feeney, a first team selection for the second straight season, is joined on the All-MASCAC Team by junior second baseman Matt Levasseur (Milton, Mass.). Levasseur earned all-conference second team accolades.

Feeney finished the season batting .419 (44-105) with 44 hits, 19 runs, seven doubles, three triples, a pair of home runs and 24 runs batted in. He also posted a .600 slugging percentage as well as a .500 on base percentage, and opened the season with a 16-game hitting streak.

Feeney led the MASCAC in batting average as well as on base percentage and ranked second in slugging percentage. Defensively, Feeney also finished third in the conference in double plays turned (20) and sixth in assists (74).

In 66 consecutive games played (all at shortstop) over two seasons with the Bears, Feeney batted .389 (91-234) with 42 runs, 40 RBI, 19 doubles, three triples, two home runs and eight stolen bases. He also recorded a career a .521 slugging percentage as well as a .447 on base percentage.

Levasseur started 28 games at second base in his first season with the Bears. He posted a .311 batting average (33-106) with 22 runs, five doubles, a home run and 15 RBI to go along with a .387 slugging percentage and a .388 on base percentage.

Levasseur ranked seventh in the conference in double plays turned (17) and ninth in assists (66).

The BSU baseball team wrapped up the 2017 campaign with an overall record of 10-21 with a 3-11 mark in MASCAC play.
