VERO BEACH, Fla. -- The Bridgewater State University baseball team closed out their nine-game trip to Vero Beach, Florida with an 11-3 victory over SUNY Maritime on Friday morning at Holman Stadium.

The Bears improve to 3-6 on the season while the Privateers fall to 3-3.

Bridgewater's top four batters in the lineup combined to go 10-for-18 with eight runs scored and nine RBI.

Reed Pike finished 2-for-3 with a run and four RBI, while Matt Levasseur went 3-for-6 with three runs and a pair of RBI. Ryan Feeney had three hits in four official at bats as he scored two runs and drove in two. Ryan Kelleher went 2-for-5 with a double, a walk, two runs and an RBI.

Samuel Devine picked up his second win of the young season on the mound for the Bears. Devine (2-0) worked the first five innings giving up a run on five hits with four walks.

Bridgewater scored all 11 of its runs over the first three innings to take a commanding 11-0 lead.

Pike opened the scoring with a two-run single in the bottom of the first. Tamarez followed with an RBI double. Pike would cross the plate with the Bears' fourth run of the frame on an RBI ground out off the bat of Tyler Morini.

Levasseur singled to lead off the second inning and scored on Feeney's RBI triple. Pike plated Feeney with a sacrifice fly to make it a 6-0 game.

The Bears erupted for five runs in the third inning highlighted by a two-run double by Levasseur. Feeney also drove in a run with a sacrifice fly, while Pike added an RBI single.

Kevin Bresciani tossed three solid innings of relief as he allowed one run on two hits with no walks and a pair of strikeouts.

Maritime scored single runs in the fourth, eighth and ninth innings.

John Verwoert went 2-for-2 and drove in two of the Privateers' three runs. He singled home a run in the eighth and added an RBI single in the ninth.

Skylar Graff and Nick Fortunato combined to throw six scoreless innings of relief for Maritime.

A.J. Ammirati took the loss for the Privateers as he gave up 11 runs (ten earned) on ten hits. Ammirati (0-1) walked three and fanned one.
