Reed Pike Named MASCAC Baseball Player of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University sophomore first baseman Reed Pike has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Baseball Player of the Week.

Pike batted .636 (14-22) with a triple, six runs scored and six RBI in six games for the Bears in Vero Beach, Florida last week. He also posted a .680 on base percentage and a .727 slugging percentage.

The Bellingham, Massachusetts product went 1-for-4 with an RBI in an 8-5 setback to Monmouth College; 4-for-5 with two walks, a stolen base, four runs scored and an RBI in a doubleheader split with Lebanon Valley College; 2-for-4 in an 8-0 setback to Penn State Behrend; and 7-for-9 with a triple, two runs and four RBI in a doubleheader sweep over the University of Northwestern.

Through eight games this season, Pike is batting .517 (15-29) with a triple, seven runs scored and six RBI to go along with a .563 on base percentage and a .586 slugging percentage. He has also flawlessly handled 68 chances at first base.

In 18 games over his first two seasons with the Bears, Pike has produced a .434 batting average (23-53) with a double, two triples, nine runs scored and nine RBI as well as a .475 on base percentage and a .528 slugging percentage.

 In upcoming action, the Bears (5-3) travel to Brandeis University on Tuesday afternoon for a three o'clock game with the Judges.
