Ryan Feeney Named MASCAC Baseball Rookie of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the second straight week, Bridgewater State University senior shortstop Ryan Feeney has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Baseball Rookie of the Week.

A native of East Bridgewater, Massachusetts, Feeney batted .435 (10-23) with three doubles, seven runs scored and an RBI in six games for the Bears in Vero Beach, Florida last week. He also posted a .500 on base percentage and a .565 slugging percentage.

Feeney went 1-for-4 with a double and a run in an 8-5 setback to Monmouth College; 3-for-7 with two walks, two runs and an RBI in a doubleheader split with Lebanon Valley College; and 5-for-8 with a pair of doubles, and four runs scored in a doubleheader sweep over the University of Northwestern.

Through eight games this season, Feeney is batting.467 (14-30) with four doubles, eight runs scored and three RBI to go along with a .515 on base percentage and a .600 slugging percentage. He also has a solid .933 fielding percentage in 30 chances at shortstop

Feeney, who is in his first season of collegiate baseball, played two seasons on the BSU football team in 2013 and 2014.

In upcoming action, the Bears (5-3) travel to Brandeis University on Tuesday afternoon for a three o'clock game with the Judges.
