Baseball Falls to Penn State Behrend, 8-0

VERO BEACH, Fla. -- The Bridgewater State University baseball team dropped an 8-0 decision to Penn State Behrend on Wednesday afternoon in Vero Beach, Florida.

The Lions improve to 4-1 on the young season with the win, while the Bears fall to 3-3.

Phil Myers tossed seven shutout innings to pick up his first win of the season. Myers scattered six hits, walked one and fanned two.

Connor Birch was saddled with the loss in his first start for the Bears. Birch (0-1) allowed five runs (four earned) on ten hits in 5 1/3 innings of work with no walks and a strikeout.

Brian Bohman went 3-for-4 at the plate with a home run, a double, two runs and three RBI. Bohman added a walk as he reached safely in four out of five plate appearances.

Scott Sada also homered for the Lions who banged out 14 hits on the afternoon.

John Hlavinka finished with three hits as he was 3-for-5 with a double, two runs and an RBI. JT Riley contributed two hits in four at bats with a run scored.

Reed Pike went 2-for-4 to highlight the BSU offense. Travis Ritchie finished 1-for-4 with a double.

After an off day, the Bears wrap up their Florida trip with a doubleheader against the University of Northwestern on Friday starting at 10:00 AM.
