COCOA, Fla. -- Scott Fischer struck out 14 batters over eight innings to lead Richard Stockton College to a 6-3 win over Bridgewater State College this evening in Cocoa, Florida.
With the win Stockton improves to 10-3 on the season, while Bridgewater State wraps up their Florida trip with a 5-2 record.
Fischer (2-1) allowed three first inning runs and then shut down the Bears over the next seven innings. He scattered eight hits and walked two. John O'Hara tossed a perfect ninth inning including a pair of strikeouts, to pick up his second save of the season.
Dana Hansen went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and an RBI to pace the Bears offensively. Steve Smith finished 2-for-4 with a run scored. Smith wrapped up the trip batting .548 (17-for-31) with three home runs, six doubles, 11 runs scored and 13 RBI.
Martin Anderson took the loss on the mound as she went 6 1/3 innings allowing four runs (one earned) on eight hits while striking out eight and walking two. Bridgewater State committed four errors in the game which led to four unearned runs.
