Erick "Rick" Sargent

Erick "Rick" Sargent was the 1949 captain of both soccer and baseball. He played four years in both as well as in basketball and tennis. One of the best all-around athletes to play at Bridgewater in the 1940's. Sargent joined the U.S. Navy directly after graduating high school in 1944. He was honorably discharged two years later. His higher education began with a bachelor's degree in education from Bridgewater State College in Massachusetts. He then went on to attain a master of education degree from Springfield College. Sargent's career in education included teaching elementary, high school and finally, junior high school students. He also coached basketball, baseball and football.Rick passed away in 2010 at the age of 84.
