Naomi Cass Named MASCAC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University sophomore Naomi Cass has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week.

Cass was the Bears’ top harrier this past weekend at the 50th Annual UMass Dartmouth Invitational which featured student-athletes from all three NCAA divisions. The Westport Massachusetts product completed the five-kilometer course in a personal-best time of 18:40.38 to place 24th out of a field of 280 runners. Cass bested her previous personal 5K standard of 21:19.5 (recorded last year at the same meet) by more than 2 1/2 minutes.

The MASCAC weekly honor marks the first of Cass' career.

The BSU women's cross country team is off until Saturday, September 30th when the Bears travel to Keene, New Hampshire for the Keene State Invitational.
