Women’s Cross Country Places 20th at UMass Dartmouth Invitational

DARTMOUTH, Mass. – The Bridgewater State University women's cross country team competed on Sunday at the 50th Annual UMass Dartmouth Invitational. The meet featured teams from all three NCAA divisions.

Sophomore Naomi Cass (Westport, Mass.) was the Bears' top harrier as she completed the five-kilometer course in a personal-best time of 18:40.38 to place 24th out of a field of 280 runners. Cass bested her previous personal 5K standard by more than two minutes.

Freshman Hannah Prosser (Wanaka, New Zealand) of BU won the race with a time of 16:20.41.

The Bears finished 20th in the team standings. Boston University captured the team title followed by Stonehill College in second place and the University of Connecticut in third.

Senior Nicole Major (Andover, Mass.) was the next Bear to cross the finish line as she placed 74th with a time of 19:34.41. BSU junior Lily Valcovic (East Taunton, Mass.) checked in with a time of 20:27.51 to finish 116th overall, while classmate Kate Brown (Acushnet, Mass.) posted a time of 22:23.18 to place 189th.

The Bears are off until Saturday, September 30th when they travel to Keene, New Hampshire for the Keene State Invitational.
