ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Sophomore Naomi Cass (Westport, Mass.) captured the meet title to lead the Bridgewater State University women's cross country team on Saturday morning at the 9th Annual Wheaton & Babson Season Opener held at the Mark Coogan Cross Country Course in Attleboro.

Cass paced the field of 49 runners as she completed the three-kilometer course in a time of 12:00.10.

Senior Nicole Major (Andover, Mass.) was the next BSU harrier to cross the finish line as she checked in with a time of 12:24.80 to place third overall, while junior Lily Valcovic (East Taunton, Mass.) finished fourth with a time of 12:36.40. Senior Elliana Martel (Rochester, N.H.) posted a time of 14:59.60 to place 35th.

Cass, Valcovic and Martel all set cross country 3K personal bests.

Babson College edged fellow co-host Wheaton College for the team title. Babson posted a low score of 35, while Wheaton checked in with a score of 36.

Following a weekend off, the BSU women's cross country team will compete at the 50th Annual UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Saturday, September 16th.
