Women’s Cross Country Places 22nd at UMass Dartmouth Invitational

DARTMOUTH, Mass. – The Bridgewater State University women's cross country team competed on Saturday at the 49th Annual UMass Dartmouth Invitational. The meet featured teams from all three NCAA divisions.

Junior Julie Glavin (Weymouth, Mass.) was the Bears' top harrier as she completed the five-kilometer course in a time of 20:01.67 to place 104th out of a field of 285 runners. Senior Lauren Selkin (Greenwich, Conn.) of Mount Holyoke College won the race with a time of 17:49.26.

The Bears finished 22nd in the team standings. UMass Lowell captured the team title followed by Stonehill College in second place and Southern New Hampshire University in third.

Junior Nicole Major (Andover, Mass.) was the next Bear to cross the finish line as she placed 127th with a time of 20:14.81. BSU sophomore Lily Valcovic (East Taunton, Mass.) checked in with a time of 20:21.40 to finish 135th overall, while senior Maura Bruns (Franklin, Mass.) posted a time of 20:22.16 to place 137th.

The Bears are off until Saturday, October 8th when they compete at the 26th Annual James Earley Invitational hosted by Westfield State University. The meet will take place at Stanley Park in Westfield, Massachusetts.
