Capital One Division III Academic All-District One Women's Track & Field/Cross Country Team (PDF)
BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University senior Sarah Lagasse and junior Molly Rouillard have been selected to the Capital One Division III Academic All-District One Women's Track and Field/Cross Country Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (Co-SIDA).
The duo, both three sports athletes, earned first team honors in District One, which is comprised of Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire and Rhode Island, and advance to the national ballot for All-America consideration.
Of the ten District One honorees, Lagasse and Rouillard were among four student-athletes from the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) voted to the team joining Westfield State senior Amanda Gricus (Marion, Mass.) and Worcester State junior Christy Deininger (North Attleboro, Mass.).
Lagasse, who hails from Rehoboth, Massachusetts, earned the award for the second straight season. The nine-time MASCAC All-Academic Team member recently graduated from Bridgewater State with a Bachelors of Science degree in Physical Education. Lagasse was named to the Dean's List in each of her six semesters at BSU as she posted an impressive overall grade point average of 3.86.
Lagasse captured all-conference honors with a fifth place showing at the MASCAC Cross Country Championships this past fall. She was also won the MASCAC Outdoor Track and Field title in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and earned both All-New England Division III (8th Place) and All-ECAC (5th Place) honors in the event.
A two-time BSU Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Lagasse presently holds the program indoor mark in the 1,000-meter run (3:03.25) as well as the outdoor steeplechase record (11:01.07).
Rouillard is making her first appearance on the regional All-Academic Team. The Dartmouth, Massachusetts native and Exercise Science major is currently sporting a terrific 3.74 GPA. She has been named to the Dean's List in each of her first eight semesters at Bridgewater and is a nine-time MASCAC All-Academic Team selection.
A six-time MASCAC Cross Country Runner of the Week in the fall, Rouillard won the conference individual title and captured MASCAC Runner of the Year honors for the second straight season.
Rouillard advanced to the NCAA DIII Outdoor Track and Field Championships in the 10,000-meter run this past spring and finished 12th at the national meet. She earned All-New England Division III and All-ECAC honors in the 10,000 with second and third place finishes, respectively, and was the MASCAC Outdoor champion in the 5,000-meter run.
During the winter indoor season, Rouillard captured the conference title in the 1,000-meter run. She currently holds BSU individual indoor marks in 400-meter dash (58.20), the 3,000-meter run (10:25.27), and the mile (5:15.79), and the Bears' outdoor record in the 10,000 (36:19.51).
To be eligible for all-academic honors, a student-athlete must be a starter or a key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director.
This marks the first year that the College Division (Non-Division I) has been expanded to include Divisions II, III, and the NAIA and Canadian schools and two-year institutions. The regions were also spread out to include eight distinct geographic locations across the United States.
