Rouillard Repeats as MASCAC Champion

NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University junior Molly Rouillard (Dartmouth, Mass.) captured her second straight individual title to lead the Bears to a third place finish out of eight teams at the MASCAC Women's Cross Country Championships on Saturday afternoon at UMass Dartmouth.

Westfield State (23 pts) captured the women's team title followed by Worcester State (51), Bridgewater (72), Salem State (130) and Fitchburg State (135).

Including their counterparts from the Little East Conference, the Bears placed 6th out of 13 teams in the New England Alliance Championships.

Rouillard completed the five-kilometer course in a time of 18:37 as she edged Westfield State freshman Amy Trainque (18:45) by eight seconds.

Senior Sarah Lagasse (Dighton, Mass.) was next across the line for Bridgewater with a time of 19:35 to finish fifth overall.  She was followed by freshman Krysta Zbikowski (Ashburnham, Mass.) in 19th place (20:51) and sophomore Taylor Clancy (Braintree, Mass.) in 20th (20:59).

Rouillard and Lagasse both earned All-MASCAC honors for placing in the top ten.

The Bears will take next week off and participate on November 12 in the NCAA Division III New England regional's which will be held in Brunswick, Maine in a meet hosted by Bowdoin.
