Bears Picked Second in MASCAC Volleyball Preseason Poll

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- The results of the 2015 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Volleyball Preseason Poll have been released and the Bridgewater State University Bears have been picked to finish second in the seven-team conference.

The Bears garnered 28 points, including one first place vote, to finish behind defending champion and preseason favorite Framingham State University (35 pts.). Framingham received five of the seven first place votes.

BSU head coach Liz Morris returns for her sixth year at the helm of the Bears' volleyball program. Last season, Morris guided the Bears to an overall record of 18-19 including a 3-3 mark in the MASCAC.

Returning to the lineup are senior outside hitter Clara Goncalves (Dennis, Mass.), junior setter Charleyne Panner (Gilford, N.H.), junior outside hitter Hannah Maymon (Narragansett, R.I.), senior middle hitter Julie Hutchins (Bellingham, Mass.), junior defensive specialist Samantha Fasoli (Sagamore Beach, Mass.) and junior middle hitter Sydney Bennett (North Attleboro, Mass.).

The Bears open the 2015 campaign at the Springfield College Invitational on Friday, September 4th and Saturday, September 5th.
