Three Bears Named to All-MASCAC Volleyball Team

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Bridgewater State University sophomore setter Charleyne Panner and sophomore outside hitters Clara Goncalves and Hannah Maymon have been selected to the 2014 All-MASCAC Volleyball Team.

Panner was voted to the All-MASCAC First Team by the league's coaches, while Goncalves and Maymon are both second team selections.

A native of Gilford, New Hampshire, Panner has recorded 688 assists, 59 kills, 188 digs, 40 aces and a .949 serve percentage in 24 matches this season.  She ranks second in the MASCAC in assists and is seventh in aces despite missing 11 matches due to injury.

In two seasons with the Bears, Panner has amassed 1,379 assists, 129 kills, 65 aces and 400 digs.  She is currently seventh all-time in program history in assists.

Goncalves has appeared in all 35 matches this season and has 302 kills, 88 digs and 21 blocks to her credit.  The Dennis, Massachusetts product ranks fourth among the MASCAC leaders in kills and tenth in hitting percentage (.204).  She has produced 352 kills and 101 digs over her first two seasons with the squad.

Maymon, who is making her second straight appearance on the All-MASCAC Second Team, has started all 35 matches for the Bears this season.  The Narragansett, Rhode Island native checks in with 334 kills, 301 digs, 29 aces and 20 blocks as she is third in the conference in kills, ninth in digs and 11th in both aces and hitting percentage (.204).

Maymon has played in 69 straight matches over her first two seasons with career totals of 615 kills, 36 aces, 531 digs and 42 blocks.

BSU senior right side hitter Sarah Mullarkey (Salem, Mass.) was chosen as the team's representative on the inaugural MASCAC All-Sportsmanship Team.

The BSU volleyball team wrapped up regular season play with an overall record of 17-18 including a 3-3 conference mark.  Seeded fourth in the MASCAC Tournament, the Bears will host fifth-seeded MCLA in quarterfinal round play on Wednesday evening at six.
