Christina Jaros Named MASCAC Volleyball Rookie of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the third straight week and an impressive sixth time this season, Bridgewater State University freshman middle hitter Christina Jaros has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Volleyball Rookie of the Week.

Jaros averaged 10.5 kills and three blocks in two matches at the MASCAC Tournament for the Bears.

The Plymouth, Massachusetts product tallied nine kills, five digs and two solo blocks in a 3-0 quarterfinal round win over MCLA, and added 12 kills and four blocks (one solo) in a 3-1 semifinal setback to eventual tournament champion Framingham State University.

In 37 matches during her rookie season, Jaros amassed 207 kills, nine aces, 64 digs and 78 blocks (34 solo). She leads the MASCAC in assisted blocks (44) and ranks second in both solo blocks and total blocks.  Jaros is also tied for tenth among the conference leaders in kills and ranks 12th in hitting percentage (.184).

The BSU volleyball team wrapped up the 2014 campaign with an overall record of 18-19.
