Christina Jaros Named MASCAC Volleyball Rookie of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the second straight week and an impressive fifth time this season, Bridgewater State University freshman middle hitter Christina Jaros has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Volleyball Rookie of the Week.

Jaros averaged 5.5 kills, two digs and 2.5 blocks while posting a .286 hitting percentage in a 2-0 week for the Bears.

The Plymouth, Massachusetts product notched nine kills, an ace, four digs and four blocks (two solo) in a 3-0 non-conference victory over Suffolk University.  She also added two kills and an assisted block in a 3-0 MASCAC win over MCLA as the Bears secured the #4 seed and a first round home match in this week's MASCAC Tournament.

Through 35 matches this season, Jaros has amassed 186 kills, nine aces, 59 digs and 72 blocks (31 solo). She leads the MASCAC in assisted blocks (38) and ranks second in both solo blocks and total blocks as well as 12th in kills and 14th in hitting percentage (.184).

The BSU volleyball team wrapped up regular season play with an overall record of 17-18 including a 3-3 mark in the MASCAC standings. The Bears take on fifth-seeded MCLA in the opening round of the MASCAC Tournament on Wednesday evening at six.
