Christina Jaros Named MASCAC Volleyball Rookie of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the second consecutive week and third time this season, Bridgewater State University freshman middle hitter Christina Jaros has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Volleyball Rookie of the Week.

A native of Plymouth, Massachusetts, Jaros averaged 7.2 kills, 3.6 digs and 1.8 blocks in a 3-2 week for the Bears while posting a .293 hitting percentage.

Jaros notched eight kills and a pair of aces in a 3-0 MASCAC win over Mass. Maritime Academy. She also garnered All-Tournament honors at the Johnson and Wales Invitational as she tallied 28 kills, three aces, 17 digs and nine blocks (six solo) in the Bears’ four matches.

Through 22 matches this season, Jaros has amassed 114 kills, six aces, 34 digs and 42 blocks (20 solo). She is tied for the MASCAC lead in assisted blocks (19) and ranks second in both solo blocks and total blocks as well as eighth in kills and 14th in hitting percentage (.200).

The BSU volleyball team returns to the court on Friday evening as the Bears travel to Schenectady, New York to face both Union College and Skidmore College in opening round action of the Union Invitational beginning at 4:00 p.m.
