Volleyball Drops 3-1 Decision to Framingham in MASCAC Semifinals

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. -- Top-seeded Framingham State University advanced to the championship match of the 2014 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Tournament with a 3-1 victory over #4 Bridgewater State University on Saturday.

The Rams will take on second-seeded Worcester State University in the finals later on Saturday. The Bears wrap up the season with a record of 18-19.

Bridgewater State took the first set from the Rams in thrilling fashion 25-23.  The Rams took the second game 25-23 and rallied from a 20-17 deficit in the third to take that frame 25-21 before closing the match with a 25-22 victory in the fourth set.

Alycia Rackliffe (Feeding Hills, Mass.) led the Rams with 14 kills on 38 attempts with five blocks and seven digs, while Julia Wan (South Deerfield, Mass.) also picked up 14 kills to go along with 10 digs and two blocks.  Danielle Girard (Tivoli, N.Y.) posted a double-double with 12 kills and 14 digs, while Maribeth Martin (Barnstable, Mass.) added 17 set assists.

The Bears were led by 17 kills and 10 digs from Hannah Maymon (Narragansett, R.I.). Maymon also added thee aces and three assists.  Christina Jaros (Plymouth, Mass.) chipped in with 12 kills and four blocks (one solo), while Sarah Mullarkey (Salem, Mass.) filled the stat sheet with six kills, nine digs, eight assists and once ace.  Charleyne Panner (Gilford, N.H.) added 21 assists and Clara Goncalves (Dennis, Mass.) contributed six kills and 14 digs.
