Volleyball Sweeps Tri-Match with MCLA, Eastern Nazarene

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. – The Bridgewater State University volleyball team swept a tri-match with Eastern Nazarene College and host MCLA on Saturday afternoon at the Amsler Campus Center in North Adams.

Bridgewater posted a 3-0 victory (25-20, 25-18, 27-25) over MASCAC opponent MCLA in the first match of the day.  BSU then upended non-conference foe Eastern Nazarene, 3-1 (25-15, 25-17, 23-25, 25-14), as the Bears improved to 5-10 on the season and 2-0 in the MASCAC.

Eastern Nazarene (7-7) knocked off MCLA (4-10, 0-2 MASCAC) in the final match of the day by the score of 3-0 (25-15, 25-20, 25-21).

Sophomore Tayler Beck (Marion, Mass.) had nine kills and three solo blocks for the Bears in the win over MCLA, while classmate Melanie Appleman (Hyannis, Mass.) tallied six kills, 16 assists and 12 digs.  Sophomore Kristen Robillard (Swansea, Mass.) added 16 digs

Brittany Kish and Kayla Bromback paced the Trailblazers with four kills apiece while Kish also notched seven assists.  Kelley Bryant and Allie Chang chipped in with thirteen digs each.

In the victory over ENC, Beck recorded a career-best 17 kills to go along with four solo blocks while posting an impressive .417 hitting percentage.  Appleman dished out 34 assists and notched three kills, freshman Sarah Mullarkey (Salem, Mass.) tallied eight kills and four digs, and sophomore Danielle Dean (Gilford, Mass.) added eight kills.

The Bears registered 11 aces against Eastern Nazarene with Dean and freshman Lisa Vega (Milford, Mass.) tallying four apiece.
