Volleyball Falls to Simmons, 3-0

BOSTON, Mass. – The Simmons College volleyball team defeated Bridgewater State University, 3-0, in non-conference play on Tuesday evening at the Holmes Sports Center in a closely contested match.

Simmons improves to 9-2 on the season while Bridgewater slips to 3-9.

The Sharks were down early in the first game but rebounded for a 25-20 win.  The second game went point for point with Simmons coming away with the 28-26 decision.  The hosts completed the sweep with a dominating 25-10 triumph in game three.

Meaghan Flynn (Laguna Beach, Calif.) paced the Sharks with eight kills, 12 digs and four blocks, while Kelly Last (West Haven, Conn.) added 4 kills and 15 digs and Rachel Dufault (Westport, Mass.) tallied 20 assists.  Taylor Nisbet (Dartmouth, Mass.) and Rossi Fish (Attleboro, Mass.) were solid on defense with five and four blocks, respectively.

Tayler Beck (Marion, Mass.) notched six kills and six blocks for the visiting Bears while Kristen Robillard (Swansea, Mass.) added 32 digs.

The Sharks travel to GNAC conference rival Albertus Magnus for a tri-match on Saturday, September 24th for matches at 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. The Bears travel to Emerson College on September 22nd for a 6:00 p.m. match.
