Volleyball Falls to Roger Williams, 3-0

BRISTOL, R.I. -- The Bridgewater State volleyball team dropped a 3-0 (25-17, 25-22, 25-23) decision to Roger Williams University on Tuesday night in Bristol, Rhode Island.

The host Hawks improve to 11-2 on the season with the win, while the Bears even their 2010 record at 4-4.

Junior middle hitter Shelly DePina (New Bedford, Mass.) paced visiting Bridgewater State with eight kills, seven digs and three blocks. Freshman setter Melanie Appleman (Hyannis, Mass.) added 20 assists and four digs, while senior outside hitter Julie Clerc (Acushnet, Mass.) notched 15 digs, four kills and an ace. Freshman middle hitter Tayler Beck (Marion, Mass.) chipped in with seven kills, six digs.

Rebekah Dion (Old Saybrook, Conn.) and Krystie Luczynski (Kensington, Conn.) each led RWU with nine kills each, while Emily Lebowitz (Coventry, Conn.) handed out 32 assists to go along with four of RWU's 11 service aces. Jill Hurd (Sunapee, N.H.) had nine digs for the Hawks.

Bridgewater is off until next Monday (Sept. 27) when the Bears host Newbury College at 6:00 PM.
