BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- The Plymouth State University volleyball team captured the 2009 BSC Halloween Classic title this afternoon at the Tinsley Center in Bridgewater, Mass.
Plymouth State (29-4) went 4-0 over the two-day tournament and did not even lose a set. After wins over host Bridgewater State and Mass. Maritime Academy on Friday night, the Panthers posted victories against Framingham State and Worcester State on Saturday to capture the tournament championship.
Plymouth State senior middle hitter Eliza Badeau (Foster, RI) was selected as the Most Valuable Player of the Halloween Classic. Rounding out the All-Tournament Team are Bridgewater State sophomore middle hitter Shelly DePina (New Bedford, MA), junior outside hitter Christine Egbert (Meadowbrook, PA) of Mass. Maritime, Worcester State senior outside hitter Lauren Saylor (Swansea, MA) and junior outside hitter Ashley Trudeau (Rockland, MA) of Framingham State.
Bridgewater State finished in second place with a 3-1 tournament record. The host Bears were followed in the standings by Worcester State (2-2), Framingham State (1-3) and Mass. Maritime (0-4).
