Volleyball Drops Pair of Matches at Tufts Invitational

MEDFORD, Mass. -- Tufts, MIT and Keene State College all went 2-0 during the first night of action at the sixth annual Tufts University Volleyball Invitational on Friday. Matches were played at Tufts and at MIT. On Saturday, all eight matches will be held at Tufts.

Bridgewater State went 0-2 during the opening night of the two-day invitational.  The Bears dropped a 3-0 decision to MIT and the bowed to Keene State College, 3-1.

Junior outside hitter Julie Clerc (Acushnet, MA) paced the Bears with 19 kills, 22, digs, four aces and three blocks in the two matches. 

Sophomore middle hitter Shelly DePina (New Bedford, MA) added 20 kills, while junior setter Natalie Cohen (Marstons Mills, MA) finished with 47 assists and 12 digs.  Senior libero Brianne Cobb (New Bedford, MA) chipped in with 40 digs.

Bridgewater State will wrap up the Tufts Invitational on Saturday.  The Bears will take on Union College at 10 AM, followed by a two o'clock match versus Hiram College.
