Julie Clerc Named MASCAC Volleyball Player of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State College junior outside hitter Julie Clerc has been named the Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Volleyball Player of the Week.

Clerc, who hails from Acushnet, Massachusetts, registered 48 kills, 50 digs and six aces in a 2-2 week for the Bears which included a 3-1 MASCAC win at Salem State. She averaged 12.0 kills, 12.5 digs and 1.5 aces per match.

In BSC's 3-1 win at Salem, Clerc notched 14 kills, 20 digs and three aces. She also finished with 12 kills, 14 digs, and three aces in a 3-0 win over Wheaton College at the Hall of Fame Invitational.

Bridgewater State is currently 7-17 on the season and, more importantly, 5-0 in the MASCAC standings.  The Bears will host Westfield State College on Tuesday night in the conference regular season finale.  The winner will capture the MASCAC title and will host the conference tournament on Saturday, November 7th.

In 23 matches this season, Clerc has 240 kills, 183 digs, 21 aces and 14 blocks to her credit.  She currently leads the team in kills, ranks second in digs and is third in aces and blocks.
