Box Score

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- The MCLA Trailblazers dropped a 3-0 match to MASCAC opponent Bridgewater State College on Monday afternoon at the MCLA Amsler Center in North Adams.

After the Bears breezed to a 25-11 win in game one, the Trailblazers showed some life in game two behind middle hitters Christina Kidd (Glens Falls, NY) and Kayla Bromback (Lee, MA).  But freshman outside hitter Shelly DePina (New Bedford, MA) and the rest of the Bridgewater (5-16, 3-1) frontline was too much as the Bears ended up winning game two, 25-21, and then completed the sweep with a 25-16 win in game three.

DePina finished with a game-high 10 kills and four blocks for the Bears, while junior outside hitter Alyssa Grimes (Acushnet, MA) added nine kills and sophomore outside hitter Julie Clerc (Acushnet, MA) chipped in with seven kills, four aces and two blocks.

Sophomores Natalie Cohen (Marstons Mills, MA) and Marissa Pita (Hyannis, MA) also played well for BSC.  Cohen registered 22 assist and three blocks, while Pita led all players with six aces.

Marta Brown (Glens Falls, NY) had 22 assists and Amanda Lane (Swansea, MA) had 13 digs for MCLA (5-12, 1-3).

Bridgewater State will next take part in the Wellesley Invitational; playing host Wellesley Friday night at 5:00 PM.  The Trailblazers will step out of conference to host Bard College Thursday at 7:00 PM.
