Volleyball Splits Tri-Match with Wheaton & Coast Guard

NEW LONDON, Conn. -- The Bridgewater State College volleyball team split a tri-match with Wheaton College and Coast Guard Academy this afternoon in New London, Connecticut. The Bears defeated Wheaton 3-2 and dropped a 3-0 decision to host Coast Guard.

Bridgewater State rallied to beat Wheaton (13-25, 28-26, 19-25, 25-18, 15-9) in the second match of the day.  Sophomore setter Natalie Cohen (Marstons Mills, MA) registered 32 assists, 6 digs, 4 blocks and 4 kills in the win over Wheaton while fellow sophomore Julie Clerc (Acushnet, MA) notched 9 kills, 12 digs and 4 assists.

In the final match of the afternoon, Bridgewater State (2-7) jumped out to a 19-9 lead in set one before the Bears stormed back to win the set 25-23. Coast Guard won set two, 25-14 before closing out the match with a wild 38-36 win in set three.

Clerc finished with 10 kills and 9 digs in the loss to Coast Guard while Cohen chipped in with 22 assists and 6 digs.
