Sam Richner joined the BSU Track and Field Coaching staff prior to the 2021-2022 season and serves as the jumps coach for both the men and women’s teams. A native of Hanson, Massachusetts, Sam attended Whitman-Hanson Regional High School and graduated in 2013. After graduating high school, Sam attended Bridgewater State University and earned a degree in Elementary Education and Communications with a minor in Special Education in 2018. While at Bridgewater State, Sam was a decorated track and field athlete. As a Bear, she competed in 8 total seasons and was a 3x National Qualifier and was an All American in the High Jump. Sam currently holds the University records in indoor and outdoor high jump, pentathlon and the 4x100 relay team.

She then completed her first master’s degree in special education from Bridgewater State in 2019. She furthered her education by obtaining a second master’s degree from Fitchburg State University in 2021 with a concentration in Teaching and Curriculum.

Sam is currently a Special Education teacher at her alma mater, Whitman-Hanson Regional High School as well as the varsity volleyball coach for the school. Sam also coached both indoor and outdoor track and field for Whitman-Hanson Regional High School from Spring 2018 until Spring 2021.
