Kiara Abrantes Named MASCAC Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the second time this season, Bridgewater State University senior Kiara Abrantes has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week.

Abrantes placed second in the 400-meter dash with a time of 57.60 seconds this past weekend at Suffolk Relays held at The Track at New Balance. The Somerset, Massachusetts product also placed fourth in the 200-meter dash with a personal-best time of 25.38 seconds.

The Suffolk Relays featured student-athletes from all three NCAA divisions as well as members of track clubs and unattached athletes.

Abrantes currently ranks 11th in all of Division III in the 200 and first in the East Region. She is also fifth in all of Division III in the 400 and first in the East Region.

The MASCAC Track Athlete of the Week honor marks the eighth of Abrantes' career and fifth indoor distinction.

The indoor season continues for the BSU track & field teams on Saturday as the Bears travel to Tufts University for the Branwen Smith-King Invitational.
