Serenity Sands Named MASCAC Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the third time this season, Bridgewater State University senior Serenity Sands has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week.

Sands won the high jump with a leap of five feet, 5.75 inches (1.67m) this past weekend at the Tufts University Sunshine Classic. The East Bridgewater, Massachusetts native also finished eighth in the long jump ( 15'9.75"/4.82m) as she helped the Bears finish third in the team standings at the meet.

Sands currently ranks eighth in all of Division III in the high jump and first in the East Region. She is also 16th in the East Region in the long jump.

The MASCAC Field Athlete of the Week honor marks the 11th of Sands' career and fifth outdoor distinction.

The BSU outdoor track & field teams travel to Westfield State University on Friday for the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Championships.
