Jailene Escalera Named MASCAC Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the second straight week, Bridgewater State University graduate student Jailene Escalera has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week.

Escalera broke her own school record in the 100-meter dash and won a pair of individual titles this past weekend at the MASCAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The Rockland, Massachusetts native won the 100-meter crown with a time of 12.18 seconds as she eclipsed her previous BSU standard of 12.20 seconds set last season. She also placed first in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.32 seconds.

Escalera currently ranks third in the East Region in both the 100 and 200.

The MASCAC weekly award marks the eighth of Escalera's career and seventh outdoor distinction.

Qualifying members of the BSU women's outdoor track & field team will compete later this week at the Division III New England Championships hosted by Mount Holyoke College.
