SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. – Serenity Sands (East Bridgewater, Mass.), Jailene Escalera (Rockland, Mass.), Tristen Gomes (Middleboro, Mass.) and Juliana Patrone (Wilmington, Mass.) earned All-New England honors to lead the Bridgewater State University women's track & field team during day two of the 2024 Division III New England Outdoor Track & Field Championships held at Mount Holyoke College.
Sands captured the meet title in the high jump with a leap of five feet, 5.75 inches (1.67m).
Escalera garnered a pair of All-New England accolades. She placed second in the finals of the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.51 seconds and finished fouth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.24 seconds.
Gomes placed seventh in the triple jump with a season-best distance of 36 feet, 8.25 inches (11.18m).
Patrone checked in at eighth in the high jump with a mark of five feet, 1.75 inches (1.57m).
The top eight placewinners in each event at the two-day championship meet garner All-New England accolades.
The Bears finished in 12th place in the team standings with 26.5 points. MIT captured the meet title with 141.5 points followed by Middlebury College (54 pts.) in second place and Bowdoin College (45 pts.) in third.
Next weekend, qualifying members of the BSU women's track & field team will compete at the NEICAAA Championships hosted by the College of the Holy Cross.
