McDonough, Abrantes Lead Women's Track & Field at NEICAAA Indoor Championships

BOSTON, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University graduate student Alison McDonough (Halifax, Mass.) and junior Kiara Abrantes (Somerset, Mass.) earned All-NEICAAA honors on Saturday during day two of the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) Indoor Track & Field Championships held at The Track at New Balance.

McDonough placed fifth in the finals of the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.84 seconds. She had previously posted a seventh-place time of 8.93 in the preliminaries to advance to the finals.

Abrantes placed fourth in the 400-meter dash with a finals time of 57.73 seconds. She had recorded a PR of 57.20 seconds to finish fourth in Friday's preliminaries.

Graduate student Jailene Escalera (Rockland, Mass.) finished ninth in the preliminaries of the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.91 seconds.

The BSU women's track & field team finished in 13th place in the team standings with 17 points. The meet featured New England teams from all three NCAA divisions.
