NEW LONDON, Conn. -- Three members of the Bridgewater State University women's outdoor track & field team competed on Friday during day one of the Silfen Invitational hosted by Connecticut College at the Silfen Field and Track.

BSU freshman Naomi Cass (Westport, Mass.) was the 14th runner to cross the finish line in the 1,500-meter run as she posted career-best a time of 5:05.28.

Junior Nicole Major (Andover, Mass.) finished 19th in the 800-meter run with a season-best time of 2:31.00.

Graduate student Ashley Garvey (Woburn, Mass.) tossed the discus 97 feet, nine inches (29.80m) to finish 19th in the event.

The Silfen Invitational continues on Saturday with field events getting underway at 8:00 AM and the gun sounding for track events at 9:45.
