McDonough, Peterson Lead Women's Track & Field at Wheaton Pre-Post Season Invitational

NORTON, Mass. -- Several members of the Bridgewater State University women's indoor track & field team competed on Saturday at the Wheaton Pre-Post Season Invitational.

Junior Alison McDonough (Halifax, Mass.) captured top honors in the 60-meter hurdles and placed third while breaking the school record in the 60-meter dash. McDonough posted a preliminary time of 9.17 seconds in the hurdles and a finals time of 9.19 seconds. She also recorded a time of 7.94 seconds in the 60 to eclipsed the previous BSU mark of 8.01 seconds set by Madeline McNamara in 2019.

Classmate Abbi Peterson (Watertown, Mass.) won the meet title in the high jump with a leap of five feet, 3.25 inches (1.61m).

Freshman Tristen Gomes (Middleboro, Mass.) placed second in the triple jump (33'11.5"/10.35m), while fellow rookie Kiara Abrantes (Somerset, Mass.) finished third in the 200-meter dash (27.01) and junior Lindsey Golden (Mansfield, Mass.) placed third in the high jump (5'1.25"/1.56m).

In upcoming action, qualifying members of the BSU women's track and field team will compete at the Division III New England Championships hosted by Colby College on Friday, February 25th and Saturday, February 26th.
