Peterson Paces Women's Indoor Track & Field at Bruce Lehane Scarlet & White Invitational

BOSTON, Mass. -- Junior Abbi Peterson (Watertown, Mass.) posted a fourth place finish in the high jump to lead the Bridgewater State University women's indoor track & field team at the Bruce Lehane Scarlet & White Invitational hosted by Boston University on Saturday.

Peterson placed fourth out of a field of 27 student-athletes in the high jump with a leap of five feet, 3.5 inches (1.61m).

Junior Allison Raposo (Cumberland, Ri.) placed 16th in the 1,000-meter run with a time of 3:11.80, while senior Megan Leary (North Attleboro, Mass.) finished 21st in the event crossing the finish line at 3:25.16.

Freshman Jailene Escalera (Rockland, Mass.) took home 12th place in the long jump with a career-best mark of 17 feet, 0.5 inches (5.19m).

The Bears 4x400-meter relay squad comprised of Raposo, classmates Lindsey Golden (Mansfield, Mass.) and Lily Marra (Lakeville, Mass.), and sophomore Nicole Major (Andover, Mass.) were the twelth team to finish with a time of 4:19.48.

Sophomores Samila Adilas (Randolph, Mass.) and Juliana Patrone (Wilmington, Mass.) finished 16th (4'11.5"/1.51m) and 18th (4'9.5"/1.46m), respectively, in the high jump, while Senior Ashley Garvey (Woburn, Mass.) placed 22nd in the weight throw with a toss of 39 feet, five inches (12.01m). Adilas also finished 22nd in the preliminaries of the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.71 seconds.

Next weekend, the Bears will compete at the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Championships held at Wheaton College.
