Jamelah Foster Named MASCAC Women's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University senior Jamelah Foster has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week.

Foster broke the school record in the weight throw to help lead the Bears to a second place finish at the Panther Invitational hosted this past weekend by Plymouth State University. The Fall River, Massachusetts product captured top honors in the event with a toss of 50 feet, 7.25 inches (15.42m) as she eclipsed the previous BSU mark of 50 feet, 4.75 inches (15.36m) set by Sheila O'Sullivan in 2017.

Foster, who currently ranks seventh in New England in the weight throw, also finished 16th in the shot put at the Panther Invitational with a toss of 30 feet, 10.25 inches (9.40m).

The BSU indoor track & field teams are back in action on Saturday (Feb. 15) when they compete at the MASCAC Championships held at Smith College.
