Bucknell Garners All-New England Honors at NEICAAA Championships

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Sophomore Ellie Bucknell (New Bedford, Mass.) garnered All-New England honors in the javelin to lead the Bridgewater State University women's track & field team during day one of the 2017 New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Williams College on Friday.

Bucknell recorded a career-best mark of 138 feet, six inches (42.23m) to place fifth overall in the javelin. She is currently ranked 13th in all of Division III in the event.

Freshman Tess Miller (Uxbridge, Mass.) and senior Amanda Lane (Abington, Mass.) placed 21st and 26th, respectively, in the preliminaries of the 400-meter dash. Miller recorded a time of 58.81 seconds, while Lane posted a time of 59.30 seconds.

Senior Traci Perry (Middleboro, Mass.) finished 22nd in the preliminaries of the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.90 seconds.

Senior Samantha Richner (Hanson, Mass.) posted a leap of five feet, three inches (1.60m) in the high jump to round out the Bears' competing student-athletes. Richner tied for 16th place in the event.

The NEICAAA Championship meet concluded on Saturday. Bridgewater finished in a tie for 28th place in the team standings with four points.
