Women's Track & Field Wraps Up NEICAAA Indoor Championships

ROXBURY, Mass. -- Qualifying members of the Bridgewater State University women's track & field team competed during the second and final day of the 49th Annual New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) Indoor Track & Field Championships held on Saturday at the Reggie Lewis Center.

The two-day meet featured competition from Divisions I, II and III in New England.

Senior Sydney Bennett (North Attleboro, Mass.) placed tenth in the shot put with a toss of 39 feet, 9.25 inches (12.12m).

The Bears' 4x400-meter relay featuring seniors Amanda Lane (Abington, Mass.) and Sabrina Rizzo (Peabody, Mass.), sophomore Cassidy Campbell (Norton, Mass.) and freshman Tess Miller (Uxbridge, Mass.) finished 16th in the event with a time of 4:07.15.

Senior Kristyn Grattan (Hanover, Mass.) finished 29th in the mile run with a career-best time of 5:21.83.

Northeastern University won the team title at the meet with 151 points. The University of Rhode Island followed in second place with 59 points, while Southern Connecticut State University (57 pts.) rounded out the top three. BSU did not score.

Next Saturday, several members of the Bears' women's indoor track & field team will compete at the Tufts Final Qualifying Meet.
