Richner, Andrews Set School Marks at NEICAAA Championships

BOSTON, Mass. -- Junior Samantha Richner (Hanson, Mass.) broke her own school records in both the pentathlon and high jump while freshman Jayci Andrews (Plymouth, Mass.) set the program mark in the 400-meter dash to lead the Bridgewater State University women's indoor track & field team during day one of the 2016 New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) Championships on Friday at Boston University.

Richner posted a score of 3,195 points in the pentathlon (11th place) as she eclipsed her previous mark of 3,105 points set last weekend at the Division III New England Championships.

Richard tied for first in the high jump with a leap of five feet, six inches (1.68m) as she surpassed her previous record of five feet, 5.25 inches (1.66m). She also placed first in the shot put (36'10.5"/11.24m), eighth in the 60-meter hurdles (9.67), 11th in the long jump (15'6"/4.72m) and 12th in the 800-meter run (2:47.07).

Richner's highest scoring event was the high jump as she posted a score of 830 points.  She also tallied 775 points in the hurdles, 611 points in the shot put, 494 points in the 800 and 485 points in the long jump.

Andrews recorded a preliminary time of 57.14 seconds in the 400 as she broke Molly Rouillard's BSU record of 58.20 seconds set back in 2011. Andrews placed 16th overall in the event.

Senior Ariele Krevosky (Oxford, Mass.) finished 23rd in the 60-meter hurdles (9.38), while junior Abbie Pustis (Andover, Mass.) placed 24th in the 500-meter dash (1:20.50) and senior Rachel Ducharme (North Attleboro, Mass.) finished 30th in the 5,000-meter run (19:06.49).

Day two of the NEICAAA Championships gets underway on Saturday at 10:00 AM.

Notes: Richner is currently tied for tenth in all of Division III in the high jump and is 18th in the pentathlon...Andrews currently ranks 16th in all of Division III in the 400.
