Women's Track & Field Competes at NEICAAA Championships

WESTFIELD, Mass. -- The Birdgewater State University women's track and field team competed at the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) Championships held at Westfield State University on Friday and Saturday.

Bridgewater's relay team of Laura McHugh (Mansfield, Mass.), Michelle Atkins (Chelsea, Mass.), Caitlin DiLorenzo (Seekonk, Mass.) and Traci Perry (Middleboro, Mass.) placed 19th in the 4x100 with a school-record  time of 49.61 seconds.  The foursome eclipsed the previous BSU standard of 49.82 seconds set last season by McHugh, Atkins, DiLorenzo and Ashley Aldred (Saugus, Mass.) at the MASCAC/Alliance Championships. 

Samantha Richner (Hanson, Mass.) was the Bears top finisher as she tied for tenth in the high jump with a leap of five feet, five inches (1.65 meters).  

The Bears relay squad of  (Franklin, Mass.Karen Anselmi), Perry, Amanda Lane (Abington, Mass.) and Becca Geldmacher (Rochester, Mass.) finished 19th in the 4x400 with a time of 4:01.46.

Perry also placed 31st in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.47 seconds.

Notes: Richner currently ranks 13th in all of Division III in the high jump.
